S-tier

S-tier combat books are the best combat books in the game. Brawler 1 & 2 and Street Scrapper 1 & 2 are must-haves for close-range fighters, as they provide great damage boosts to unarmed and melee weapon attacks, making combat faster and more efficient, especially against tougher foes.

These books are useful across all stages of the game. Pep 1 & 2 are equally essential, as faster stamina recovery makes it incredibly effective in fights and makes it easier for you to explore the maps.

A-tier

A-tier combat books are strong and enhance specific playstyles, though they’re not as universally impactful as S-tier options. Throttle and Jumbo Throttle are excellent if you use stealth-oriented playstyle, allowing you to knock out small, medium, and even heavy enemies with a whip.

While powerful, their reliance on stealth makes them less versatile than in most situations. Lucky Hat 1 gives you a second chance when you fall, with Lucky Hat 2 reducing its cooldown.

B-tier

B-tier books provide tangible benefits but are often situational or outclassed by better alternatives. Iron Grip 1 allows you to hold enemies in a grab for longer, which is helpful for crowd control or specific combat strategies but rarely essential in fast-paced battles. Similarly, Jumbo Lasso lets you pull heavy enemies into a grab, providing some tactical flexibility, though it’s limited in use compared to damage boosts or stamina enhancements.

Punch Out 1 restores stamina when knocking out enemies, which is useful in prolonged fights but pales in comparison to the consistent stamina recovery offered by Pep.

C-tier

C-tier books have limited utility or are only beneficial in rare scenarios, making them the lowest priority. Hardboiled 1 merges HP bars to prevent sudden deaths from heavy attacks, but it lacks the consistent survivability benefits provided by stamina recovery or faster regeneration.

Lastly, Splinter Smash provides bonus damage when a weapon breaks, but it’s a highly situational benefit, as most players aim to avoid letting their weapons reach the breaking point in the first place.
