Controller vs MnK has always been a topic of discussion in the Apex Legends community due to the controller's seemingly unfair advantage thanks to aim assist. The community is divided, as both the controller and MnK players can face off against one another due to crossplay and both sides think the other has an advantage. Some new data has surfaced on Reddit, shedding light on the average accuracy of controller and MnK players.

This article will elaborate on the new data regarding controller and MnK players and determine the better input in Apex Legends.

Statistical Analysis of Controller vs MnK Players in Apex Legends

A Reddit user u/lifeisbadclothing performed an elaborate statistical analysis on the accuracy of 10,000 Controller and MnK players, which points towards the controller being far superior to MnK. The data was derived from all the players’ performances in R5 Reloaded over the last four months, from February 22, 2024, to June 22, 2024.

R5 Reloaded is an unofficial modded version of Apex Legends that allows players to create custom lobbies and game modes, alter in-game parameters and cosmetics, and aim train in an elaborate replication of in-game scenarios. This analysis was carried out on the top 10,000 players in the R5 Reloaded leaderboard. Below are the results of this analysis.

The average accuracy of controller players is 33.57% while that of MnK players is 25.72%, which is 30.5% higher than MnK players. The average accuracy of the top 4% of Mnk plays is equal to the average accuracy of all the controller players. One out of four controller players have higher accuracy than 99.3% of MnK players.

The average KD also differs drastically with controller players having 31.5% higher KD than MnK players. And the most shocking part is that there are only four MnK players in the top 1000 for accuracy percentage.

These stats alone settle the long-standing debate in the Apex Legends community. Be it for aim assist or other factors, it is undeniable that the controller is far superior to MnK when it comes to tracking and aiming in Apex Legends.

Is Controller better than MnK in Apex Legends?

While the controller is better than MnK in terms of raw aiming, other factors must be considered before determining which is better.

Apex Legends, at its core, is a battle royale game that focuses a lot on positioning, rotations, and movement. Rotations and positioning are directly affected by the player’s movement skills, not to mention the advantage you get while using movement in a gunfight.

These complex movement mechanics are not only easier to perform on an MnK but are also exclusive to that input. Some of the best movement players in Apex Legends prefer MnK for this reason.

So, the best input comes down to personal preference, where if a certain player wants to incorporate movement in his gameplay, then MnK is the better option. On the other hand, if the player is focused on having perfect tracking to beam down your opponents, then the controller is preferable.
