Counter-Strike (CS2) community disappointed as Valve does nothing new for 25th anniversary

Valve just celebrated the 25th anniversary of their famous FPS title, CS2. From Counter-Strike Source to CS: GO, the many versions and editions of the game have been in the gaming world for over two decades. Around the 20th anniversary of the game, Valve hosted a workshop event that introduced the CS20 Case and Capsule. However, for the 25th anniversary of the game, Valve has added nothing to the game.

The CS2 community was left disappointed with the makers. Reddit user u/menemenetekelvparsin took to the forum to ask if fans were going to get anything more than just a message celebrating the anniversary.

One fan noted that they had already deleted that game; however, they would like to come back to it. Unfortunately, not bestowing the community with any new benefits on the 25th anniversary disappointed the user further. Perhaps, they will not download the game after all.

Meanwhile, other players were seemingly upset due to the lack of an update. All of this after recent CS2 map and operation leaks is bound to leave fans underwhelmed.

While some players were left disappointed, others believed that it was perhaps not reasonable to expect Valve to drop a big update on the anniversary date. This is because the makers don't have a very long history of dropping updates right on the anniversary date.

One Redditor speculated that perhaps Valve will drop a CS2 update within the next few months along with a new case. However, a brand new operation is unlikely according to them.

Finally, one die-hard fan of the game admitted that hope for a new update was slowly fading away. However, they still had some hope left in them and they were ready to hang on to it by the skin of their teeth.

What were the CS2 update leaks that had fans excited?

Popular leaker sources such as Ozzny and GabeFollower had taken to their X handles to report massive leaks regarding a new update. GabeFollower went on to reveal code in game files revealing that Keychains were being added to the game.

Moreover, the leaker along with Ozzny even showed several new maps that were reportedly in the making. These maps could have been intended for Wingman, Death Race, Competitive, and more. Moreover, a new case for the 25th anniversary was also predicted.

Perhaps leaks from these highly acknowledged leaker sources made the fans excited and helped tower their expectations. Unfortunately, Valve has not confirmed any of these updates and with the anniversary date out of sight, perhaps a new update will take time before ever going live.

And it may still not have any of the leaked cosmetics or maps.
