The way the Armory Pass works is you need to earn Armory credits by gaining XP from any match played on Valve’s official servers. Now, XP in CS2 is awarded according to your overall score in a match. Getting a knife or grenade kills awards more points thereby giving you more XP.

To abuse this process, players are teaming up in Casual game modes, especially Deathmatch, and knifing each other voluntarily to get more XP.
