The possibility of getting a rare skin in CS2 by spending a small amount or hitting just one spin is considerably low. However, in a recent viral moment, a player opened a rare knife skin at IEM Cologne 2024 in a single spin, and the crowd went wild witnessing it. But many players aren't quite sure if what transpired was real.

Many seem to agree with this sentiment. Dogeater1612 (@SingyuLiu1) expressed what should be done if the moment was scripted:
"If it’s fake ban him from every counter strike tournament, slander his name so he never gets a job ever again."
kai cs (@YourKaiCS2) also feels the spin was staged:
"Valve scripted fr. +5% of getting a knife based on location."
However, many were surprised at the player's luck.
Meanwhile, D2$ (@livetowaste) alluded to the fake opening that happened in the 2023 Counter-Strike 2 Paris Major.
"PARIS MAJOR FAKE OPENING VOL. 2???"
Pikkun0va (@Pikkun0va) wanted something that proved the authenticity of this spin:
"Why not spin the knife or something to prove it is real."
In response, Ozzny (@Ozzny_CS2) uploaded a video of the knife's inspection.

Why are players calling the CS2 knife opening fake?
As mentioned, in the 2023 CS2 Paris Major Final, a player opened a case in the arena and got a rare knife in one spin, shocking everyone in attendance. However, it was later discovered that the player fooled everyone and showed a pre-recorded video.
Since then, there have been several cases in which players randomly tricked others by uploading fake videos on social media of opening a case and getting a knife. All these events made others think the moment in question was fake.
