Deadlock is a new third-person hero shooter MOBA game developed by Valve currently in playtesting. The American developers are yet to announce an official release date, but the game already has over 100,000 concurrent players.
Deadlock Gameplay
Deadlock is a unique hero shooter that mixes the classic third-person shooter with elements of a Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA). In this game, players get to select from a wide selection of characters. Players would not only be fighting against enemy players but also their defenses.
Once taking down the enemy defenses, players would have to face an animated magical golem called Patron. Now, the players must destroy Patron to win the match. There are ziplines throughout the game that help players to explore through the battlefield. Players also get boosts to slide faster through the ziplines but they take some time to recharge for using them again.
Being a hero shooter, players get to select from 21 characters with unique designs. These characters would also have unique skills and abilities, so players can have different playstyles depending on the character they select. In the current playtest, it's not clear if those characters have a deeper lore than their in-game description and the game is set in an alternate New York City, the Cursed Apple, which has elements of the 1930s Prohibition era and occult themes.
