Mirage, Deadlock’s brand-new hero was released on September 26, 2024. However, after a day of grabbing the spotlight in the game, the developers tweaked some of his abilities which potentially nerfed his kit with the recent update. This was done because the devs felt like the hero was quite overpowered in various scenarios.
Having said that, let's take a look at what changes the developers made to balance Mirage in Deadlock to offer all players a fair and fun environment.

It did not take long for Mirage to become a fan-favorite hero in Deadlock. People also wanted to try him out since he is new, and this made his pick rate go off the charts. Essentially, what makes him an exceptionally powerful character is his ability to shred opponent tank units and move swiftly around dodging their bullets. On top of that, he also possesses an exceptional crowd control ability - Tornado, making him a must-pick character if you want to win every match.
Here are the nerfs that Mirage received in the most recent Deadlock patch notes:
- Mirage: Tornado lift duration reduced from 1.5s to 1.2s
- Mirage: Tornado T1 bonus lift duration reduced from +0.5s to +0.4s
- Mirage: Tornado base bullet evasion reduced from 30% to 25%
- Mirage: Djinn's Mark T3 now also reduces Multiplier Cooldown by 0.5s
With the aforementioned nerfs in effect, Mirage's Tornado will become less potent. This means that he will require some assistance lifting up a couple of enemies and fighting them.
Moreover, when he turns back to normal after casting Tornado, he will now have less bullet evasion. This implies that players will have an easier time hitting Mirage once he finishes casting Tornado.
Mirage’s third ability, Djinn’s Mark, allows him to stack and increase the damage multiplier of the enemy he is shooting at. The more he shoots this target the higher the number of stacks he will accumulate. When the ability is upgraded to the max level, Mirage can inflict four more stacks with no drawbacks. Hence, the reduced multiplier cooldown of Djinn’s Mark now makes the players constantly target the opponent as the stacks run out quicker than before.
