Deadlock players are praising Valve for the recent adjustments in Souls. As per the major update of November 7, 2024, teammates do not need to split their Souls. Understanding this update could be a bit confusing for some people. The game is still in an early development phase and gets constant updates on a weekly basis.

In a recent post on r/DeadlockTheGame, user u/rdubya3387 expressed his feelings about the new update which has gained hundreds of Upvotes and received many comments.

As the post suggests, ever since the new update related to Souls arrived, players seem to be more confident in pushing the Lanes and do not keep camping to farm them from afar. The user is thanking Valve for bringing this change as it encourages players to work as a team rather than only caring about collecting Souls safely for themselves.

For those unaware, before the November 7, 2024 update, the full value of Souls was given to the players in a Lane only up to the eight-minute mark in the match. After eight minutes, the Souls were split into the two players assigned to a specific Lane. This meant those who were in the solo Lane made significantly more Souls and had an advantage during the late-game phase.

However, after the new update, this split of Souls between the players has been removed, giving everyone an equal opportunity to unlock high-tier items from The Curiosity Shop.

The majority of the community seems to like this update so far. User u/Stop_Sign mentioned how this is a great update for players who use support characters, as they do not usually push or switch Lanes often to earn extra Souls. u/PhilippinoWrangler hopes that this change doesn't get reverted as it makes the game feel more balanced than before. This update helps players focus more on combat than leaving teammates to farm Souls selfishly.

However, some are players not satisfied, questioning whether it is actually fair for both players to get an equal amount of Souls. User u/cedreic1234_ expressed mixed feelings regarding this change, mentioning how the new Souls update seems unbalanced and could result in unfair results. User u/attomsk believes that Valve should have found a middle way out instead.

Meanwhile, u/Ramadaba mentioned that since the new update, matches are ending significantly quicker than before because the weaker teams are not getting any chances to collect Souls while the stronger team is upgrading at double the speed. Before this update, a normal Deadlock match lasted around 35 to 40 minutes.
