Death Stranding News: Another retailer confirms 2019 release

Death Stranding is an upcoming title by Kojima Productions. After the sudden abandonment of Silent Hills a few years ago, Hideo Kojima parted ways with Konami and began his own development studio, and since the first trailer dropped back at E3 2016.

While we don't know when to expect Kojima Productions to finally release Death Stranding, we have seen some hints over the past few months. Back in December, Walmart Canada's official site claimed that it would be shipped out in June of this year. Last week, Troy Baker, who works as a voice actor in Death Stranding, hinted heavily that it would release this year as well on Twitter.

Baker's tweet took a jab at the "ten-year challenge" that has flooded social media but instead used two pictures of characters he's portrayed. 2009 was Snow from the Final Fantasy XIII games. 2019? Well, he's set to play a character known as "The Man in the Golden Mask." Even Hideo Kojima has been teasing the idea of a 2019 release.

Now, it seems another retailer may have spilled the beans on this one. A Redditor posted a picture to the site on the Death Stranding subreddit, which seems to show Best Buy proving a 2019 release will happen.

This wouldn't be the first time a company has attempted to get pre-order purchases prior to a game's date being revealed, so it's possible it might release in 2020. However, Best Buy's Death Stranding Page, until recently, was promoting a release date of December 31st, 2019, but has since changed it to "N/A."

We don't know much about the game, story or gameplay wise, let alone when we'll be able to get our hands on it, but with all of these "hints" dropping from so many sources, I think we can safely confirm that PlayStation 4 owners will be lost in the world of Death Stranding this year.
