Demon's Souls creator says remaster is possible

From Software has another incredible title on the way this year. The team behind hits like Demon's Souls, the Dark Souls Trilogy, and Bloodborne, is looking to top themselves with the upcoming release of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

While From president Hidetaka Miyazaki is currently focused on Sekiro, he revealed in an interview with Game Informer that we may see a remastered version of Demon's Souls in the future. Though, he claimed he doesn't like to look back at past works.

When asked if the company was thinking of doing a remaster of Demon's Souls, Miyazaki said:

It's like when you write when you're younger, you look back and you think 'Oh, goodness what was I thinking?' It's not that I'm embarrassed, I just don't like to look at my previous works.

He also said that it isn't a decision solely for From Software to make. Sony needs to sign off on the idea, and if they don't think it will make a solid profit, they probably won't okay it.

In regards to who would take on the Demon's Souls Remastered, Miyazaki revealed that he wouldn't be opposed to a different studio tackling it. As long as it's the right one, one that will respect the property.

If it's a studio that really loved the original work, and really put their heart and soul into realizing it again, then that's something I would enjoy.

Miyazaki said that it's a complicated situation because he has so many fond memories of Demon's Souls. He knows that there are players that truly love Demon's Souls, and would be happy to give any studio that genuinely loved the game a chance to bring it to a new audience. And though Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive, as was Bloodborne with the PS4, the Dark Souls series was multi-platform, meaning there's the possibility of seeing it on Xbox One, reaching a previously ignored group of gamers.
