Destiny 2 Announced

Bungie has revealed that the follow-up to the recently released game Destiny is already in the works. The first expansion for Destiny is still over a month away and hence the latest announcement brings good news for the lovers of the game as they apparently won’t have to wait long for Destiny 2.

During yesterday’s post-earnings financial call, Eric Hirshberg, the CEO of Activision Publishing talked about the future of the series by saying that development had already begun on the next entry in the series. Specifically, he said : “Work has also begun on future expansion packs, as well as on our next full game release.”

While they continue to work on expansions for the first Destiny, there is no real surprise that Bungie has already started work on the sequel given that Bungie and Activision had a 10 year plan for the series, including a ton of money being invested in the future, this is pretty much as expected. What remains to be seen is whether Activision plans to eventually make Destiny an annual series like Call of Duty. We are unlikely to see one in 2015, as Bungie is the only one working on the series right now, but we’ll have to wait and see when exactly the sequel arrives.
