The ever-popular Budokai Tenkaichi series has returned with Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO. The title features an incredible roster of over 180 characters across Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball GT and even some Dragon Ball movies. The game is available on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X and S.

A question on gamers' minds, particularly PlayStation players, would be whether the game requires Sony's flagship subscription service PlayStation Plus in order to be playable. The answer to that is no, as the offline aspects of the game are entirely playable without the need for PlayStation Plus.

All modesof Sparking Zero, except the online multiplayer, can be played entirely offline and solo. Game modes like the World Tournament's online multiplayer require an active PS Plus subscription, as the rest of the game can be played without subscribing to PS Plus.

The game also features local multiplayer in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, which allows players to partake in PvP battles in split-screen. This mode too, does not require an active PS Plus subscription in order to be playable.

Every game edition of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

The fourth Budokai Tenkaichi game has three purchasable editions: the standard edition, the Deluxe edition and lastly, the Ultimate edition. The title has been out in early access starting October 7, 2024 for owners of the Deluxe and Ultimate editions, with standard edition buyers getting access on October 10, 2024.

The entirety of the base game is included in every edition. However, the Deluxe and Ultimate editions include DLCs, which include the Season Pass, additional player packs and the aforementioned early access to the game. The Ultimate edition also includes an Ultimate upgrade pack and a special bonus, which allows players to summon the mythical Super Shenron without fighting any battles.
