Delta Force does not utilize the well-recognized traditional SBMM system that assigns players ranks and tiers based on their skill and performance. The developers at Team Jade aim to provide a safe learning environment for newer players, therefore, the distinction is only made between beginners and experienced ones.
To explain further, on December 10, 2024, the official Delta Force X handle responded to a complaint about SBMM with the following remarks:
"We don't utilize a complex SBMM system where players with specific win rates are placed into tiers and matched together. Instead, we roughly categorize players as either "new" or "everyone else", allowing new players some time to familiarize themselves with the game before being placed into the regular pool."
In the free-to-play title, all experienced players are placed within a large matchmaking pool where the developers aim to ensure that they get matches as fast as possible. Furthermore, the game also ensures there is no SBMM system that forces a 50% win rate on the players. This way, no one is subjected to the high pressure of losing rank or placement in the game.
It's also likely that the game will never experience skill-based matchmaking. In a recent Reddit AMA session, the developers at Team Jade stated:
"Ensuring that all players are not subjected to the pressures of SBMM–we refuse to create high-pressure games for top-tier players or force a 50% win rate balance."
By not using the traditional SBMM system, the TiMi Studios title sets itself apart from many modern games. It stands out by prioritizing the gaming experience of brand-new users uniquely and ensuring all players have an optimum and fair matchmaking experience.
