The Silent Hill 2 remake has treated fans to an all-new take on the iconic PS2 classic. However, many have been wary of Denuvo, the go-to anti-piracy measure implemented by most game companies at launch. Piracy is a big concern for publishers on the PC platform, which is why many modern games include some form of anti-tamper software.
Thankfully, fans can rest easy as Denuvo is nowhere to be found in the Silent Hill 2 remake. This is likely to push players on PC towards making a purchase since many have expressed an aversion to Denuvo due to its technical downsides. Read on to know more.

As per the official Steam store page for the game, there is no mention of Denuvo. Store policy states that publishers have to clarify the inclusion of such measures under a "Third-party EULA" software tag, which can be seen under countless other games and even upcoming ones like Monster Hunter Wilds.
Denuvo, in particular, has garnered a bad name for itself in the gaming community as it causes issues in games. Key culprits like poor performance and longer loading times compared to the non-Denuvo (i.e. cracked or pirated) versions have made gamers apprehensive about purchasing games with the tech incorporated.

This essentially means that paying customers are getting an inferior product while pirates are enjoying a superior experience, which is understandably unfair. Thankfully PC players can dive into the terrifying world of protagonist James Sunderland without any hesitation.
To ponder further on the subject matter, there is nothing stopping publisher Konami from adding Denuvo in the future but that is unlikely. It is usually implemented at launch to prevent piracy losses and then removed by many publishers a year or two down the line like Capcom did with their modern Resident Evil games.
