The International 2024 (otherwise dubbed TI 13) concluded as one of the smallest iterations of this Dota 2 tournament in recent history. As the most prestigious event in this game, TI is where the most carefully curated strategies come out in pro play. This year did not have much opportunity for that, with a very set-in-stone aura meta that leaves little room for deviation.
In this article, we'll take a look at the apex predators of this meta. If you're in the loop, you'll recognize these as the most familiar faces from the draft phrase. Till the post-TI patch comes out, these will remain the top meta picks to watch out for in your pubs.
5 most successful Dota 2 heroes in TI 13
To fairly calculate consistency from raw winrate, we'll exclude wildcard picks and cheese counter-picks. We'll only consider heroes whose total pick and ban numbers add up to 50 (in the main stage as well as groups).

1) Naga Siren - 75% winrate
- Picked in 12 matches
- Won 9 of them
- Banned out a total of 104 times
It's no wonder that Naga was the most contested Dota 2 hero in TI 13. This would sound odd to returning players, given that illusion cores are very off-meta. The key is that this is a support Naga pick we're talking about.
In a highly choreographed teamplay environment like TI, Naga Siren's ult is one of the best in the entire game. It heals by default now, letting you reset and turn fights better than any other hero before BKBs come online. On top of that, Naga Siren's Deluge facet gives her a super-spammable poke ability that can be lane-winning.

2) Invoker - 66.67% winrate
- Drafted in 15 matches
- Won 10 of those matches
- Banned out in 41 matches
Puck was the most contested midlaner in this TI, but Invoker is the most successful one by a large margin. It's sitting at a handsome 52% winrate on Dota 2 Pro tracker at the time of writing on the highest-MMR pubs played during the two weeks of TI, so it's not a fluke.
Invoker is a specialist's pick, and these days, it's hard to be a successful midlaner without versatility. All the pro midlaners that made it to the main stage have good experience with it. Naturally, the pick delivered when it counted and entertained us with the flashy plays.
3) Omniknight - 64.71% winrate
- Got picked in 17 matches
- Won 11 of those matches
- Banned out in 61 matches
In direct contrast to Invoker, the winrate of Omniknight is quite applicable to pubs till a nerf hits him. Healing supports were the central point of the meta, and there are few better squires to maintain your carry than Omniknight.
More importantly, with Juggernaut and Life Stealer completely unpicked throughout the entire TI, Omniknight's free 6-second BKB is incredibly powerful against specific drafts.
4) Luna - 62.96% winrate
- Drafted in 27 matches
- Won 17 of those matches
- Banned in 24 matches, many of these being first-phase bans at the main stage
Throughout TI 13, Luna has been the most reliable and consistent carry. A lot of the patch-independent strong points still hold up: Luna can play well from ahead and recover at a rapid rate when behind.
Her Moonshields give her insane damage up close, and just Lucent Beam can be debilitating with a Khanda build-up. Naturally, in a meta that loves ranged cores that can siege easily, Luna is unbeatable.

5) Tusk - 62.79% winrate
- Rolled in as a pick in 43 matches
- Won 27 of those matches
- Banned in 34 matches
Among all the heroes in this list so far, Tusk is the most likely to get nerfed in the next Dota 2 patch. This hero was an absolute show-stealer at this TI in the hands of specialists like Samuel "Boxi" Svahn and Worawit "Q" Mekchai.
Snowball remains one of the best saves in the entire game. It's all the more important in a meta all about supercharging and enabling your carry to hit freely. And wouldn't you know it, Tusk does in fact provide a buff on top! The "Drinking Buddies" facet is a buff, a save, and an escape tool all at the same time. Plus it's not even high-execution like Snowball or Ice Shards, so even a regular player can get a lot of use out of it.
Honorable mention: Sand King - 61% winrate
If you've followed Dota 2 TI 13 even on just main stage, you probably saw this coming. Sand King is the star of the tournament. Looking at the numbers, Sand King has only a 61% winrate over 26 games. He's still the terror of the drafting phase, and the most banned core for a number of reasons.
This hero is always one good ult away from blowing the game wide open. To top it off, he's a flex pick that can work on both mid and offlane. Leave him in a winning lane, and he'll become the start of the classic TI 13 deathball. Leave him with a suicide lane, and he'll pick up his GPM during downtime anyway.
We should also take this occasion to celebrate Mars. Mars has always been the ol' reliable for rounding out a Dota 2 draft, and does an honest offlaner's lot. In TI 13, he continues this legacy with 19 wins out of 30 matches (63% winrate).
