What is Dota Auto chess? Dota Auto Chess came out as an Arcade game and not just any other arcade game, but as one of the most popular arcade games ever created. And now the rumours say it might release as a game on its own.
The story of Dota Chess is very simple. The hard working couriers of Dota2 live on an island- Drodo Island. They deserve to have some fun and they like to play the game of Dota chess where the heroes of Dota2 are pawns and the couriers are players.
You join a multiplayer lobby with seven other people and the 8x8 chess game starts. You get some gold at the beginning of every round, you can buy heroes and put them on the board as your pawns. You have to level up your pawns before other players and unlock class effects. every pawn is under one or multiple categories, a certain number of heroes from each class activates powers.
Pick up your pawn, unlock class powers and battle against each other. Every player starts the game with 100% HP, as the game progresses every round you lose on your own board you lose some of your HP, whoever stays alive on the board until the end is the winner.

So it's basically a MOBA styled battle royale? In a way, yes. You can compare it to a card/board game. Is it a free-to-play version of Artifact? Artifact reviews on steam says "Mostly Negative", while Auto Chess hasn't even been out for weeks and already has a steady player base and players are actually try-Harding in the Auto Chess ranks.
Also, the game has its own calibration and ELO system. If you keep finishing in Top 4, your rank increases. If you keep finishing in Bottom 4, your rank goes down.
The community has different opinions. While some players are asking Valve to release auto chess as a game, other players are complaining about bad matchmaking because apparently "Auto Chess" is stealing the good players from the main game".
This reminds me, Dota1 came out as a mod of World of Warcraft and ended up being a game on its own. Do you think Auto Chess can do that? What if Auto Chess is released as a game of its own and develops a single player esports-scene? Would you play it?
