Dota Auto Chess is a video game strategy mod for the video game Dota 2. The game, developed by Drodo Studio and incorporates elements from chess as well as those from Dota 2.Because of its enormous popularity, Drodo Studio created a standalone version called Auto Chess, while Valve, the creators of Dota 2, created their own standalone version called Dota Underlords.
The game accommodates up to eight players and assigns them to eight different chess boards. Prior to each round, players choose from a public pool of over fifty chess pieces to place around the board. Each chess piece represents a distinct race and class, with unique abilities.
Each player controls a courier, who keeps track of the player's health, gold, and experience level. The courier's experience level will increase by one at the end of each round until it reaches ten. The courier's health decreases with each round lost, and its death signifies the associated player's defeat. When only one player remains, the game is over.
