The campaign of Dragon Age The Veilguard takes players across the vast lands of Thedas and has a wealth of content for players to enjoy. However, the primary attraction remains the main story, within which the players' actions determine what ending they'll witness at the end. In total, three possible endings can be achieved: the good ending, the bad ending, and a secret ending.
A majority of the events that are required for either of the endings take place towards the conclusion of the game, more specifically the events of Chapters 12 through 14.
This article delves into the conditions for unlocking and provides a detailed explanation of all the possible endings in Dragon Age The Veilguard.

All endings in Dragon Age The Veilguard explained
Do note that Chapter 11 will give a "Point Of No Return" prompt upon selecting the "When Plans Align" quest. This locks out all side content and will only proceed forth with the main campaign, so make sure to have collected the necessary items and completed quests before proceeding forth.
Additionally, depending on the ending that you wish to choose, proceed appropriately with leveling up faction ranks and character ranks as mentioned below for each type of ending.
For instance, to achieve the good ending, make sure party members are leveled up to the "Hero of the Veilguard" to have them be as powerful as possible, and have faction ranks leveled up to 3 as well. On the contrary, the opposite needs to be done to achieve the bad ending.
Good ending
The good ending is the one where most party members survive. To start this route, save Minthraus over Treviso in Chapter 6. Later on, during Chapter 12's Isle of Gods mission, a decision needs to be made on whether to send Harding or Davrin to distract Ghilan’nain. This choice is crucial, as whoever is chosen will be eliminated in battle, and their journey in the game will come to an end.
Choose Davrin as a distraction to proceed with the good ending. Proceeding forth; Neve and Bellara will both offer to clear a blocked path. Choose wisely, as whichever one is chosen will be taken hostage by Elgar'nan and will not feature in the party till later in the game. Continue the chapter using Neve and Harding in the next mission.
In Chapter 13, during The Last Gambit, assign the appropriate roles for each of the party members in the battles against the enemies. To proceed with this ending, use the following roles:
- Assign Taash to protect the Veil Jumpers due to her expertise in dealing with magic wards.
- Assign Lucanis to protect the Antivan Crows due to his experience in surprise attacks and fighting mages.
- Assign Harding to protect Grey Wardens/Mourn Watch because of his ability to battle massive enemies or constructs.
Once Elgar'nan is defeated, a veil will open. Provided that the Essence of Mythal is acquired, Solas can be talked with to see reason, an act which is supported by Morrigan and the Inquisitor. Solas will then sacrifice himself willingly, and no party members will be harmed. Alternatively, Solas can be tricked with a replica of his dagger if it has been acquired, which will impress him enough to sacrifice himself as well.
Done correctly, all the party members except Davrin survive till the endgame. This will ensure the Good ending takes place, and the requisite achievement "The Ones That Last" is also unlocked.

Bad ending
As the name suggests, the bad ending is achieved by simply opposing all the actions of the good ending. This includes not leveling party members to "Hero of the Veilguard" status and disregarding relations with the factions as well.
Place party members into the wrong roles, and watch them suffer and eventually succumb to their foes without much effort. As their character ranks are also not high enough, they will all perish with ease. Combat, as a result, will also become significantly more challenging due to allies simply being incapable of providing the appropriate assistance.
Done correctly (wrongly), there can be no party members to help Rook in the final battle. Fighting Solas in this situation will result in Rook being dragged into the veil with Solas. Even in a situation where any party members are alive in this final battle, they will be eliminated by Solas with ease due to them not being Heroes of the Veilguard.
In the post-credits, a monument will be visible showcasing the efforts of the party as a way to honor fallen heroes. This ending has maximum bloodshed and loss of life, making it the bad ending.

Secret ending
To unlock this secret ending, obtain Mythal's Essence and find the three mysterious circles, information on which can be read in the aforementioned guide to unlocking all endings. In the secret ending, events from the game depending on the player's choices are referenced, along with some events from older games in the series.
At the end, a voice will speak when an inverted triangle appears on the screen to say "We Come...". It is a reference to the Executors, a group who have expressed their keen interest in the events that took place in Thedas. The scene concludes with a message stating "Veilguard will remain vigilant".
