Dragon Age The Veilguard: Dead Men Tell Some Tales walkthrough

Across the vast map of Dragon Age The Veilguard, players can enjoy a wealth of side content separate from the events of the main campaign. These can include party member bond events, treasure hunts, and much more. One such example is the Dead Men Tell Some Tales quest, which takes players on a treasure hunt to find some hidden loot, guided in the right direction by the Spirit of Adventure.

En route to the treasure, there will be some enemies who need to be defeated, though the treasure hidden at the end is well worth it. Below is a guide on how to complete this side quest, and claim the hidden rewards.

Dead Men Tell Some Tales quest walkthrough in Dragon Age The Veilguard

Head to Cliff Climb in Rivain, and the quest marker for Dead Men Tell Some Tales will guide you toward some ruins. There may be some enemies on this path, so clear them out. Standing in the ruins, you will see the Spirit of Adventure spawn, who can be talked to. She informs Rook and the party that not too far from the area is a hidden treasure chest, and provides clues to find said treasure.

The first clue she provides takes the party to the beach-like area near the ruins, where a large skeleton and some destroyed boats are visible. Here, a horde of undead pirates appear and attack the party. Each enemy here and in the succeeding areas is weak to Necrotic damage. Defeat them, and head toward the large rock near the tail end of the skeleton.

Here, you will find the second clue, which states "Where the rock stands tall, look for the shortest waterfall." Head on toward the second marker, and go to the bottom of the waterfall. More undead pirates will spawn, so finish them off to complete the objective. Return to the base of the waterfall and another clue can be investigated. It reads "My booty's within reach, you'll grab it near the beach."

Reach Winding Shoreline, and head towards the sand area where a small pool of water is present near the castle ruins. The undead pirate captain himself will appear to fight the party, along with some other undead pirates. Clear out all the enemies, and the Spirit Of Adventure will return. Go up and talk to it.

Pleased by your efforts in seeking out the treasure, the Spirit will open a secret passageway to allow the party to access their rewards, while also increasing the Bond with the party. Among items such as Gold and XP, a Unique Utility Belt termed Glorious Ultimatum will also be acquired. Equipping this item will make health potions now restore Ultimate, and activating Ultimate with this equipped will fully replenish HP.
