Executing takedowns in Dragon Age The Veilguard

Before performing a takedown or an execution, attack your opponent and fill up his stagger bar. While the weaker enemies will die even before their stagger bar is full, takedowns of the stronger enemies and boss battles will be most useful in Dragon Age The Veilguard. During boss battles, perform multiple takedowns before finally killing and ending a boss battle.

To perform an execution once the stagger bar is full, press R3 or RS on your controller. Even though performing an execution itself is quite simple, the difficult part is to fill the stagger bar of your enemy. Also, once an enemy is staggered, you can use other abilities and combos before performing the takedown to increase your chances of succeeding. The enemy remains staggered for a short while. Use this window to your benefit.

The quickest way possible to stagger your opponent is to use spells, abilities, combo attacks, and elemental spells. For melee attacks, charged heavy attacks will be your best bet.
