Dragon Age: The Veilguard will have three Specializations for each of the three primary classes. That way, as the Rook, players will have further ways to customize and offer new, varied ways to play. The Rogue and Warrior options were already revealed, but BioWare recently revealed the Mage options.
Unfortunately, the Rook will not have access to Blood Mage as a specialization option in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the specific reason is unknown. All fans know is that there are “reasons to avoid blood mage.” Below is the confirmed list of Specializations:
- Warrior: Slayer, Reaper, Champion
- Rogue: Duelist, Saboteur, Veil Jumper
- Mage: Evoker, Death Caller, Spellblade
Unfortunately, the full descriptions of these classes and how they’ll work are not yet known. More information will come on that as the game gets closer to launch. However, the developers have outlined a bit about the Skill Trees. The Rook (player character) will get a greater Skill Tree than his companions, but there will be plenty of meaningful choices.
The Skill Tree of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a Hexagon, with three points being the three Specializations, and the other three based on various facets of the character. While this is a grid system, and we don’t know what each point does, we do know each section name for the three base classes:
- Warrior: Slayer, Reaper, Champion, Weapons, Abilities, Survival
- Rogue: Duelist, Saboteur, Veil Jumper, Sustain, Burst, Control
- Mage: Evoker, Death Caller, Spellblade, Sustain, Burst, Control
While Mage and Rogue have similarly named secondary Skill Tree selections, their stats and options will surely differ. Each of the points on the Skill Tree is tied to specific ability/stat types. BioWare revealed what each of them mean so players have a clear idea of what to expect:
- Large Circle: Class
- Diamonds: Abilities
- Medium Circle: Major Passives/Ability Upgrades
- Small Hexagon: Traits
- Small Circle: Minor Passives/Stat Boosts
The Skill Trees will change how a player plays, it’s more than just numbers. It will be fascinating to see how the Rook and Companion SKill Trees play out when the game finally launches.
