Shadows Crossing quest walkthrough in Dragon Age The Veilguard

Shadows Crossing falls under the category of Outing quests just like Echoes of The Past, which is another quest you will stumble upon later in the game. As you start the mission, you will learn that the mayor is missing and the Blight has attacked the villagers.

Since this quest comes pretty early in the game, there is not much to do. You need to follow the linear path that the game offers and then kill all the Blight Boils that come your way. After this, you will be put against a dragon. Fortunately, you won't fight it yet as Ghilan'nain will stop it from attacking you.

Should you save the Mayor or show mercy on him in Dragon Age The Veilguard?

The decision you take depends on how you want the storyline to progress. The Mayor will confess that he was the one who agreed to sacrifice his own people as part of the ritual and for monetary benefits. After this, he will beg for his life leaving you with a critical choice to make: to save him or let him die.

If you show mercy, you will gain Neve's approval, increasing your chances of romancing her in the future. However, on the other hand, if you let him die, you will win approval from Bellara and Lace Harding.

Do note though, that if you leave the Mayor there, you will need to fight him later on in the game as part of the A Growing Corruption quest. However, this won't happen if you save him.
