You can build up your bond level with your allies in Dragon Age The Veilguard by completing their character missions. These missions take you to numerous locations scattered across Thedas. One such quest is Walking the Graves, which takes you on a small journey to the Necropolis Memorial Gardens as you accompany Emmrich on his quest to honor some spirits.

You can also use this quest to increase your bond and romance level with Emmrich through some specific dialogue options. Below is a guide on how to complete this quest.

Walking the Graves quest in Dragon Age The Veilguard

This quest can be accessed not long after Emmrich joins the party and sets up base at the Lighthouse. Head to the yellow exclamation marker and speak with him to start it. Next, reach the Necropolis Memorial Gardens where Emmrich is patiently waiting for you.

Once you reach the location, a cutscene will play in which Emmerich expresses his wish to carry out some rites around the gardens. When prompted, select "It'd only be right," to increase your bond with him. Once the cutscene ends, light the candles that Emmrich prompts you toward.

After a few candles, a small cutscene plays and a wisp appears in the air. Select "Um..hey?" to increase Emmrich's bond and continue lighting the candles when prompted. After a while, Emmrich will request for a bell to be rung. Do so, and two spirits will show up.

Once done, select "Anything for Manfred." to increase your bond, or select "Trying to impress. I like it." to increase romance with him. For your troubles, you will receive some XP and Gold, and of course a bond increase with Emmrich.
