One of the best things about Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is the World Tournament battlegrounds. This is where I spent the bulk of my time recording while taking part in the recent preview session with Bandai Namco. Who doesn’t love a good tournament arc in anime? This upcoming title features all the important tournament arc options from the whole of Dragon Ball - the Budokai Tenkaichi, Other World Tournament, and so much more.
It even features a brand-new tournament, alongside the ability to create your own. Ever think you could do better and build the ultimate tournament? Dragon Ball Sparking Zero lets you create the tournament of your dreams using the whole roster of characters — including the recently revealed GT characters.

One of the main modes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is the World Tournament mode. Whether you choose to make a tournament to play offline, or simply challenge yourself against the computer, there are endless options available. With over 180 characters in the game, each tournament will likely feel incredibly different.
All the World Tournament options are available at launch in this game — if they required any special unlocks, that didn’t happen in our playthrough. If this should change or be factually incorrect, we’ll update accordingly.

While it’s unfortunate we didn’t see any difference between the Tournament of Destroyers and the Tournament of Power, one World Tournament stood out as our favorite in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero: The Yamcha Games! That’s right, everyone’s favorite baseball player gets his own tournament.
And, in a twist that delighted me, it’s random! You don’t get to pick your character or customization options - the game decides for you. In my experience, Yamcha was always the final opponent, and he had to face off against some truly terrifying opponents like Super Saiyan Blue Goku.
While there are plenty of modes you can play, I feel like tournaments are going to be where a lot of players come to test their skills. You can play online and set up your custom tournaments, so it will be interesting to see if an esports scene crops up around this style of gameplay.
