Normal Edit is Dragon Ball Sparking Zero’s default for Custom Battle. It has features that aren’t available in Simple Edit, such as customizing Effect Settings and Scene Settings. Do you want to make it so that characters transform or tag out at certain times in the battle? You need to be in Normal Edit to do that, through Effect Settings.

Below are all the steps to create these Custom Battles in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero:

  • Characters: Who is involved in the battle?
  • Battle Environment: Which stage does this take place at?
  • Effect Settings: Adjust which effects will activate when certain conditions are met, as well as requirements for different effects to activate.
  • Scene Settings: Adjust which scenes play at the start or end of a battle, as well as event scenes that play when a battle’s result has been decided.
  • Title Screen: What phrase, background, and melody plays for the title screen?
  • Thumbnail: Make a thumbnail from the battle to show off.

The easiest part is picking your Characters. You can literally pick anyone you want. But if you plan on people transforming or fusing, you must make sure the correct forms of a character are in a battle. For example, Z-Goku can’t turn into SSJ4 Goku - only GT Goku can do that!

Battle Environment is also pretty simple - just pick the stage where you want this epic battle to go down at. In our case, we picked the Land of the Kais - because why not? It’s a beautiful stage. However, Scene Settings adds more complexity to the Custom Battle Mode of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

This is where you create the little cutscenes and moments that happen before and after the battle. Do you want to set up a cool scene where the two characters are talking before the fight? You do that here, in the Scene Settings suite.

You can set screen effects, take your thumbnails here, add things like slow motion, and more. The more you experiment, the more amazing things you can do. When you’ve made and saved the scene, you can easily select one of the empty slots in Edit Scene and add it from your Cut List.

However, you also have to keep one thing in mind: You have to be able to complete these! So no creating impossible scenarios.

Simple Edit is for players who want to make something without all the extra effort that goes into the normal settings. When it opens up, you pick a template to create your battle in, out of the following settings:

  • Thrilling battles with last-minute comebacks.
  • Exciting team battles.
  • Battles against overwhelmingly powerful opponents.
  • One-on-one duels to the finish.
  • Battles with the odds stacked against me.

In Simple Mode, you just have Characters, Battle Environment, Title Screen, and Thumbnail. In this version’s Thumbnail settings though, you will get some generic options based on the battle, and you can pick one of them.

Copy Edit is pretty simple, too. You open that choice, and select either Bonus Battles or Custom Battle Mode. You can copy a Bonus Battle that you’ve completed though, so keep that in mind. You then adjust it according to the Normal Edit settings.
