Even though Dragon Orbs can be used during any battle if you have them in your inventory, it will be in your best interest to avoid them in the main battles. The best way to use Dragon Orbs is to clear the 'what if' scenarios of the game. For those who seek to complete the entire game and not just the story mode, Orbs can prove extremely helpful.

If you use them during battles, your victory won't be counted. What this simply means is that using them in main battles won't earn you any Zeni or other rewards.

To get your hands on Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, you need to make a wish for it by summoning Shenron, Porunga, or Super Shenron. To do so, however, you will need to collect seven Dragon Balls.

Once you have all seven Dragon Balls needed to summon any of the above-mentioned dragons, pick the 'I want to complete an Episode Battle' option from the list of wishes available. This will reward you with a Dragon Orb. Apart from Porunga, the other two dragons only grant this wish once in the game, so you need to be mindful of how you spend these Orbs.

Once you have them in your inventory, upon starting a battle, select the 'Use Orb' option displayed at the bottom of your screen to reduce the difficulty level of the battle, helping you increase your chances of emerging victorious.
