Dynasty Warriors Origins confirms 2025 release date

During Sony's PlayStation State of Play, Dynasty Warriors Origins received a 2025 release date. While it’s still a few months off, the hype is off the charts for the upcoming 1 vs. 1000 beat ‘em up set in the Late Han Era of China.

Instead of focusing on the legend of familiar faces like Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Jian, players will instead control a nameless warrior who interacts with the legendary generals and warriors. This signs a return to the more familiar gameplay, which has excited long-time fans.

Arguably one of the biggest announcements to come out of Sony State of Play this month, Dynasty Warriors Origins now has a confirmed release date of January 2025. Here’s what we know about the upcoming title.

Dynasty Warriors Origins releases on January 17, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The developers are promising the most intense combat of any game in the series’ history. Focusing on current-gen platforms instead of the previous generation (PS4, Xbox One) will no doubt allow the game to shine brighter, instead of limiting performance to what the other consoles could do.

In the latest trailer, the nameless warrior that players will control smashes their way through thousands of soldiers in the Late Han Era. However, this warrior has amnesia and somehow finds themselves in the midst of this intense conflict. Instead of viewing the war from the perspective of legendary figures, players will get to see it from a new, fresh perspective.

This latest trailer also hints at some of the scenarios and battles that players will go through, such as the Yellow Scarf Rebellion, the overthrowing of the tyrant Dong Zhuo, and perhaps even the showdown at Chibi

This character also has a secret that may tip the scales in some way of the Three Kingdoms era. Whether fighting alongside important warriors that players will be familiar with, or going at it alone, it promises to offer intense, heated battles.

Players will also occasionally be able to play as familiar characters temporarily in the form of Companion officers. If the conditions are met, players will be able to control these mighty warriors.
