Dynasty Warriors Origins Wei True Ending Route begins at the Battle of Wan Castle; I’ll be honest with you, this is the hardest thing I’ve done in the game so far. I think I spent more time doing this than even trying to beat Lu Bu. After 15-20 attempts at beating the Battle of Wan Castle, doing everything from waiting to see if Dian Wei could fight the final officer on his own, I learned an important lesson.
Much like in the Wu battle for the Battle of Xiangyang, Dynasty Warriors Origins Wei True Ending at Battle of Wan Castle is all about speed. You absolutely must be in the castle, defeating enemy officers before a specific time. I have a rough estimate of that time, and going beyond it is likely to spell disaster. The goal is to save Dian Wei by defeating all the officers in the castle before they overwhelm him.
How to complete Battle of Wan Castle for Wei True Ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins
From the moment you begin Battle of Wan Castle for the Wei True Ending Route in Dynasty Warriors Origins, my estimate is that you have about 10 minutes to get everything done. This is based on my many failures, and my one success finally unlocking things for this battle. To take part, complete the Wei faction storyline once, return to Chapter 3 in Story Mode, and interact with the Golden Banner.

It will put you just outside of this battle. I recommend Guo Jia as a partner, just so he doesn’t get tied up fighting other enemies around the battlefield. You want him safe and secure, so take him as your ally. I also recommend doing this fight on Historian difficulty, because you don’t have time for long, protracted fights.
The minute the battle starts, mount up and dash to the upper northeast part of the map. Claim the base there and defeat the enemy officer in the way along the path. This won’t stop Cao Cao from being bombarded with fire arrows, but it’s necessary. The next step in Dynasty Warriors Origins Battle of Wan for the Wei True Ending is to defeat the incoming reinforcements.
While you wait on Huo Jin and his generic officers, defeat a few of the officers out in the main battlefield. Clear these two groups of officers as fast as possible. Once they’re defeated, charge to the middle of the map and defeat the officers here. There shouldn’t be more than three in the center.
You’ll also see some reinforcements show up around this time once again. Take them out immediately. Around this time, Dian Wei should defeat the first officer inside Wan Castle in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
One more group of reinforcements comes in from the south, ride down and defeat them as quickly as possible. Prevent them from taking the base if you want. This will clear most of the annoying parts of the Dynasty Warriors Origins Wei True Ending route at Wan Castle.
Finally, ride to the northwest part of the map and take that base. That’s how you can start the process of ladders being built. These will give you a way in and Cao Cao a way out. Keep riding toward the castle and take out the generic officer.
By now, the laddermen should be ready to go. As soon as the ladder is up, climb up, jump down into the castle, and immediately start slaughtering officers. Zhang Xiu, Jiang Xia, and Zhang Quan are the closest by. Pop everything you have to take them down; again, this is why Historian difficulty is the best choice.
The instant these are dead, ride to the east to fight Huche’er. If he says the following dialogue, you should be on track:
“Oh? What are you doing here? I thought your mission was to save Cao Cao, was it not? Surely you don’t mean to rescue his bodyguard? What foolishness. Even if you beat all of us, you’d never succeed!”
If a soldier calls for reinforcements against Dian Wei, it’s too late. He’ll never defeat the enemy inside — I waited for a half hour and at best, Dian Wei got them down to about 5% and stopped. If Dian Wei points out that the enemy numbers are thinning, you’re good to go. Mission accomplished. You’ll see “Fate Altered” and can complete the mission as normal.
There aren’t many enemies left anyway. Go join Cao Cao and enjoy having unlocked the first part of the Wei True Ending route in Dynasty Warriors Origins. There’s another battle to go later — Battle of Mt. Bailang — but that’s for next time. For now, bask in the knowledge that you saved Dian Wei.
