Dynasty Warriors Origins’ postgame features a wealth of great features, including the Reforge system. This is something you certainly don’t have to do as you play through the additional factions, and tackle greater challenges. However, if you want the best weapon possible or want to customize a weapon to make up for shortcomings in your gameplay, this is certainly possible.
The downside to using the Reforge system on your weapons in Dynasty Warriors Origins is that it can get pretty expensive. It feels like this was designed for the Ultimate Warrior difficulty, as that significantly increases rewards, and makes it easier to find Epic Weapons. If want to do some customizing, here’s what you need to know.
What does the Reforge system do in Dynasty Warriors Origins?
The Reforge system in Dynasty Warriors Origins allows you to take a weapon, and transfer skills from it, to another. This allows you to customize weapons and build the ultimate tool of combat for each weapon type. Once you’ve beaten the game once as any faction, this is one of the post-game systems that immediately unlocks.

To Reforge a weapon in Dynasty Warriors Origins, head to any city in the game and instead of selecting Weapons Shop or Sell, pick Reforge. It will pull up a menu that has every weapon you’ve accrued and kept so far on it. First, you pick the weapon you want to reforge.
You have to use weapons of the same Type and Grade, so keep that in mind as well. In addition, you can't stack the same ability twice on a weapon. I recommend picking a weapon with as many slots as possible on it — you can’t add more slots, you can only replace skills that already exist on a weapon.
At this point you get two choices in Dynasty Warriors Origins - Reforge Traits and Reforge Power. Reforging Traits is where you swap one Trait for another. This isn’t incredibly expensive either, at 1,000 coins. However, you do sacrifice the weapon you’re swapping a trait from.
When it comes to Reforge Power however, the cost can vary greatly. This increases the overall attack power of a weapon, by sacrificing other weapons to it. Sometimes, it only cost a few hundred coins, other times, it was over 150,000. The greater the jump in power, the greater the cost. Just keep an eye on this, and don’t spend more than you can afford in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
It felt incredibly expensive in the early post-game, but I was still buying powerful weapons when they came up, so money was dry. This is an amazing system for building the perfect weapon. If you’re bad at parrying/perfect evades, you can find traits that give you a greater window to implement those defensive maneuvers, for example.
You can increase damage, increase the amount of Bravery you get in certain situations, and so much more. Always keep an eye out on the weapons you pick up in this latest Koei Tecmo title - they might make excellent Reforge fodder!
