But one night, while exploring the ruins of a recently wrecked laboratory on his own, Ekko discovered a piece of blue-green crystal that gleamed with magical energy.
Every child in Zaun has heard of hextech, which is claimed to power both guns and heroes. Such an object had the power to transform the world, and he was holding a shattered one. However, as he hurried to collect additional pieces, the footfalls of enforcers informed him that he wasn't the only one looking, and Ekko narrowly fled.
He played with the crystal, and during one less-than-scientific experiment, the gem exploded into a whirlwind of shimmering dust, causing temporal eddies. When Ekko opened his eyes, he saw multiple fractured realities—as well as several "echo" copies of himself—staring back in terror. They were able to patch the breach in reality's fabric courtesy of some stressful collaboration between Ekko and his paradoxes. But he finally created and utilized the crystal's temporal properties to develop a gadget that allowed him to influence small periods of time.
However, it wasn't until he saved a friend's life that Ekko's renown began to grow, and with each trial and so much failure, the time-warping device—dubbed the Zero Drive by Ekko—became more and more stable. Since then, his time-bending activities have piqued the curiosity of some of Zaun and Piltover's most imaginative, powerful, and dangerous citizens.

Parallel Convergence
Ekko's basic attacks deal additional magical damage to foes with low health. He can use Parallel Convergence to split the spacetime, causing an anomaly that slows foes caught inside. Ekko obtains shielding and stuns adversaries by freezing them in time if he enters the anomaly.
Phase Dive
While charging his Z-Drive, Ekko rolls evasively. His next assault causes additional damage while warping reality and teleporting him to his target.
Chronobreak
Ekko shatters his chronology, rendering himself untargetable and looping to a more advantageous period in time. He returns to where he was only a few seconds ago and recovers for a portion of the damage taken during that time. Enemies in his arrival zone absorb a lot of damage.
