Castle Ensis in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is one of the early stage's legacy dungeons, and clearing it is crucial to unlocking a path to a new region. This castle has great loot and features one of the most difficult bosses in the game, Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. Some hidden paths here lead to prominent items, and if you're not cautious enough, you can easily miss them.

Castle Ensis in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: Location

If you want to get to Castle Ensis in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, the pathway is quite straightforward.

From Gravesite Plain Grace (the first Grace in the DLC), go straight north to find the Three-Path Cross Grace. Then, cross the bridge in the northeast direction to find Castle Front Grace, which leads to Castle Ensis.

From the Castle Front Grace in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, keep moving forward, and you will encounter a giant troll. Kill him to get a Somber Smithing Stone [9] and a Royal Magic Grease.

Before entering the castle, go around the right side to find a Somber Smithing Stone [3] on a rooftop. Then, get inside using the southeast room, kill the sorcerer, and pick up a Shadow Realm Rune [4]. Now, go around the castle's left side to find a Somber Smithing Stone [1]. Go up the stairs in front, and when in the middle, jump to the right side to find a Broken Rune.

After going up the stairs, you will find another staircase in the southeast, beside a building. Kill the enemy on the rooftop, get up the ladder, and loot the chest containing Milady in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Get down from the building, follow the northeast pathway, pick two Flight Pinion on the way. After a while, you will see two soldiers sitting on the west side. Kill them and jump down from the little gap on the southeast side to find 10 Bolts. Proceed in the northeast direction to find Glintslab Firefly on the edge.

Jump down from there, go southeast, and you will be back to the previous location (where you jumped down). Kill the soldier there, and get inside the eastern room to find a chest containing Loyal Knight's Cookbook. After that, follow the pathway going up, and you will find a Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot on the right side. Be careful of the dog's attack from the left.

Move upwards and on the left side, you will find the Castle Ensis Checkpoint Grace and a Miquella's Cross in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. Loot the Scadutree Fragment and the Somber Smithing Stone [1] from here. As the main gate is locked, proceed to the southwest, kill the soldier, jump down, collect three Knot Resins, and jump down again from the small hole.

Defeat all the rotten dogs in there, loot 10 Arrows, and follow the southwest pathway leading to a waterfall. However, don't jump into the waterfall for now. Instead, go to the southwest (right-side pathway along the cliff), and jump onto the rooftop to find the Starlight Shards.

Go back to the waterfall, jump onto it, go straight to find a Drawstring Royal Magic Grease. Just ahead, you will find four Knot Resins.

Once you've obtained them, go back, use the ladder on the west side to go up, and kill the soldiers in the room. Get out of the room. Then, go straight to the room in the opposite direction, and you will find a lever. Use it to open the previously mentioned locked gate near the Castle Ensis Checkpoint Grace.

Afterward, go up the stairs, kill the soldiers on the bridge, loot three Strings from the left, and follow the south pathway. Deal with the dog and the sorcerers on the way, and loot two Glintslab Firefly near the cliff edge.

There's a path on the right side of the stairs; follow it, and you will come across a ladder. Go up, kill the enemy there, and get a Somber Smithing Stone [6].

Return to the stairs, go up and you will encounter an invader: Moonrithyll, the Carian Knight. Defeat him and obtain the Moonrithyll's Knight Sword.

After that, use the stairs in the northwest direction, follow the path, and you will find a room with a chest inside. Loot it to get the Wolf Crest Shield in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Go back to the previous location (where you killed the invader), get inside the church, and collect Rellana’s Cameo Talisman on the altar. Go through the door on the west, proceed forward, kill the sorcerers, and collect a Shadow Realm Rune [2]. When outside, you will find the Glintstab Firefly on the stairs.

Afterward, go up the stairs and open the metal gate on your right. Just after heading inside, fall from the left side ledge to collect three Dewgems. Use the ladders to get on the rooftop, kill the enemy, and go towards the rooftop on the south to find a Somber Smithing Stone [2]. When facing north, fall down from the rooftop to collect the Glintblade Trio sorcery.

Jump down again, go up the stairs, and follow the same pathway that leads to the metal gate. Proceed forward, deal with the enemies, and collect the Somber Smithing Stone [6] and Somber Smithing Stone [5]. After navigating forward, use the curved stairs to go up, and you will find a chest in the left room that contains an Imbued Sword Key.

After getting out of the room, you will encounter a strong knight just ahead. Kill him, proceed to the room he was guarding, use the lift to go up, and you will find the Castle-Lord's Chamber Grace.

Go through the door on the east to find a Somber Smithing Stone [4]. Fall from the right side balcony and go inside the tower on the south. After reaching the top, you will find a chest that contains Ash of War: Wing Stance.

Now, teleport back to the Castle Ensis' Castle-Lord's Chamber Grace and go towards the northwest, where you have to fight Rellana, Twin Moon Knight boss in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. She is the twin sister of Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.

The Rellana boss fight is regarded as one of the most challenging encounters in the DLC. Rellana, Twin Moon Knight possesses a wide array of combo attacks that have the potential to eliminate you in an instant. Therefore, you must evade all her combos and any long-range attacks she makes. Additionally, you will have to contend with a second phase that offers even less leniency.

Summoning a Spirit Ash is an option for making the fight easier. Do not feel embarrassed about using a summon because, after all, the game is supposed to be fun in your way.

Defeating Rellana will grant you 240,000 runes and the Remembrance of the Twin Moon Knight.
