Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree comes packed with some cool new weapons, armor sets, and talismans for you to work into your build(s). Although most of these new items are either locked behind the legacy or overworld dungeons, some can be easily obtained while exploring the new region - the Realm of Shadow.

If you're looking for a good talisman to work into your existing build, you can find one pretty early: the Blade of Mercy. In fact, you can find this talisman as soon as you start the DLC and grab the first Site of Grace. What's even better is that you don't have to fight any boss or even enemies to get the talisman.

Here's a comprehensive guide on how to obtain the Blade of Mercy in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Where to find the Blade of Mercy talisman in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

As soon as you step into Elden Ring's Realm of Shadow and grab your first Site of Grace at Gravesite Plains, you can set out to grab the Blade of Mercy. The talisman is hidden inside a chest within the Scorched Ruins area of the map, which is found to the north of the first Site of Grace. You can locate the Scorched Ruins using the Furnace Golem as a reference.

As shown in the video above, head to the top of the Scorched Ruins by following the path via the rooftops, and you will eventually arrive at a platform with a staircase. This area is guarded by a few apparition enemies, that can be killed or avoided pretty easily. From this platform, head to the right, and you will reach a locked door.

Open the door to find a treasure chest, which contains the Blade of Mercy talisman. The Blade of Mercy is easily one of the best talismans you can use if you have a build that's focused on critical attacks, as it essentially increases attack power after every critical hit.

The Blade of Mercy also explores the lore behind the Hornsent, a new race that has been introduced to Elden Ring with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The item description of the talisman states:

"Hornsent employed this blade to end the suffering of a compatriot. After claiming numerous lives, the dagger is now broken, but has acquired a spectral aura."

The Blade of Mercy is best used with builds like pure Strength or Arcane-Intelligence, alongside the Claw Talisman, which allows you to break an enemy's poise easily, opening them up for a critical hit. You can also use it with Elden Ring Strength-Faith builds, but make sure you're using Colossal weapons to help break an enemy's stance.
