Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree’s Smithscript Dagger is one of the incredible new weapon types added in the game’s major DLC update. This weapon, categorized as a throwing dagger, is a blend of medium-range and melee attacks. Each time you swing it, it also throws a dagger ahead, so you can pull enemies to you, as well as stab them when they get too close. You can throw it farther if you use the Piercing Throw weapon skill.

Thankfully, it’s not an especially complex weapon to find, either. Once you’ve been to the Ruined Lava Forge Intake, it’s yours to claim, provided you know where it is. If you want the Smithscript Dagger in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, here’s where you need to go.

The Smithscript Dagger is off the beaten path, found in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree’s optional Ruined Lava Forge Intake dungeon. You can find it southwest of the Ellac Greatbridge, and the location of the specific dungeon can be found in the screenshot above.

The Smithscript Dagger is found on a corpse in a large room that is filled with lava. Just head up to the lever that controls the Forge’s Mechanism and head down into that area. Enter the dungeon and take the first ladder to head down. Defeat or skip the Golem, and head right once you’ve spotted the large Fire Blob.

Take the left down the hallway into the huge chamber, and overcome the next Golem. You can likely just dodge past it, scoop the dagger, and leave if you want, but that can be dangerous. Claim the dagger off the corpse, and now you have the Smithscript Dagger in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

The Throwing Dagger weapon type is new to this DLC and gives players flexibility they didn’t have before. Now you can use it in melee and medium range without swapping to another weapon. You can also use its Ash of War Piercing Throw to get an attack out at a greater distance.
