Valve’s CS2 recently recorded the longest map in its history and fans are going crazy over how long it lasted. Popular reporter Jake Lucky shared the news on X, noting that the match lasted 71 rounds (nearly three hours), including eight overtimes and a bathroom break.
For reference, a normal CS2 match has a maximum of 24 rounds in regulation time, lasting about 40-45 minutes. However, one or two overtimes are pretty common, which adds another 15-20 minutes to the match. The community reacted to the recent longest-recorded LAN map with shock and commented that it was insane.
Playing 71 rounds at a stretch for almost three long hours is frankly, insane, and that is exactly what Nick The Trader had to say. He said:

"Thats actually insane."
The map went on for so long that even a bathroom break was allowed in between. Some users found this amusing, with @lordsp commenting that they were surprised to hear about it.
Some people were concerned about the mental sanity of the players after playing for such long hours. They were surprised that there was no toxicity among teammates. Orion said:
"How does one go that many rounds and not fight a teammate for messing up when a mistake was made? This is insane!"
The overall kills and deaths for such a long game would be very interesting to look at and there were a few among the community who were more interested in these statistics. User Mason commented:
"Someone get me the scoreboard."
Finally, a user by the name of Ghost Wacke on X recorded the exact duration of the map, and it’s insane. They provided the precise start and end times in their comment.
Previously recorded long maps in CS2
It has not even been a full year since CS2 was released, and the game has already seen some insanely long and tedious maps. The previously recorded longest map in CS2 was just four months post-release during ESL Challenger League S46. It was on the map Ancient which lasted for 60 rounds. Before that, the longest LAN map was at eXTREMESLAND 2023 on Inferno, which lasted a total of 54 rounds.
This incredible event is not to be confused with the previous iteration of Counter Strike, Counter Strike: Global Offensive. CS: GO used to have a total of 30 rounds in regulation time, often leading to even longer recorded games. The longest of these was at ESL UK Premiership 2015, where the match on Inferno lasted 88 rounds.
