EWC 2024 Week 3 recap: NAVI secure CS2 trophy, Gaimin Gladiators win Dota 2 Riyadh Masters, and PMWC group stage

EWC 2024 Week 3 has concluded, and two major attractions of the tournaments, the EWC CS2 Championship and the Dota 2 Riyadh Masters have come to an end. The weekend also saw the group stage of the PUBG Mobile World Cup play out, where 12 teams made it to the Main Stage, while the remaining ones were sent to the Survival Stage.

EWC CS2 Championship

Despite not being the favorites coming into the tournament, NAVI claimed the title at the first Esports World Cup CS2 Championship and took home the grand prize of $400,000. This is their second victory of 2024, with the first being the PGL Major Copenhagen.

NAVI was dominant throughout the group stage of the tournament and faced two tournament favorites—FaZe and MOUZ—in the playoff stage. They overcame these hurdles to make it to the Grand Final, where they played against their IGL Aleksib's former team, G2 Esports.

NAVI lost the first game of the best-of-three series on Ancient, but bounced back hard, delivering strong blows to G2 on Nuke and Inferno. Aleksib's calling was at its best during the series, as he appeared to have the perfect read on his former teammates' movements.

Dota 2 Riyadh Masters

The Dota 2 Riyadh Masters Grand Final was also played at EWC 2024 Week 3. The Canadian organization Gaimin Gladiators dominated the series, as they claimed a clean victory over Liquid Echo.

Both Gladiators and Liquid had similar runs up to the Grand Final, but on the day, the former seemed to have their opponents' number. With a combination of impeccable team synergy and best-in-class individual plays, the squad dominated the match, leading to their first Dota 2 Esports victory since 2023.
