Fan creates website to track time since last CS2 Operation, sparks community reactions

Valve's CS2 is yet to get its first operation and fans seem desperate. Operations bring in new content, exclusive rewards, and even community maps for players. The last time we witnessed such an event was back in February 2023 when Operation Riptide was released. This dates back to the days of CS:GO.

In response, some fans have created a website that counts the days since the last Counter-Strike operation. A post was recently shared by popular Counter-Strike 2 leaker Ozzny featuring the website made by X user @DareToDoyle. In the post, the leaker noted how the community seems desperate for a major event update.

One fan, @Marous_btw, highlighted that the new version of the game hasn't had an operation because Operation Riptide was released in CS:GO and not CS2.

Meanwhile, @lensters0 pointed out how the game might be getting the same treatment as Team Fortress 2 and DOTA. The user felt that these games have not been receiving enough new content, and Valve's famous FPS title may be headed in the same direction.

One fan, @fear4u7, was so upset with Valve that they decided that CS2 would be deleted from their system if a major update wasn't released sometime in July 2024. Perhaps the need for a new operation is greater now than ever before for some players.

Some fans were frustrated over the absence of a new operation while players such as @zhngzhngyf84940 still had their hopes up. This user believed that perhaps all we need is a little bit of patience as Valve figures out new content.

Finally, X user @Nikesen1337 believed that a new update would certainly be interesting but that the anti-cheat system should be a bigger concern for Valve.

Where did the rumors about a new CS2 operation begin?

Fans asking for a new operation isn't new, however, the demand intensified around June 20, 2024, the 25th anniversary of the Counter-Strike franchise. This was because popular leakers such as Ozzny and GabeFollower began posting content that pointed toward a major update.

The content included new maps, keychains in CS2, a new case, and more. It was also speculated that since Valve released new content on the game's 20th anniversary, it wasn't too unrealistic to expect a release on the 25th anniversary too.

Four days have now passed since the anniversary and Valve has not put out a statement or an update. Naturally, fans who had high expectations have been left looking for answers.
