Far Cry News: New Dawn references President Trump's Space Force

Far Cry New Dawn seems to be stepping up the political commentary a bit this time around. Upon Far Cry 5's release, the game received heavy criticism for its political stance, taking shots at the far-right while exploring themes of religious zealotry. Considering when it was announced, many felt it was attempting to delve into the escalating and heated political throwdowns surrounding the election of President Donald Trump.

While many feel that the video game world is a great place for social commentary, there were those who were upset with how the villains were portrayed. Well, Ubisoft doesn't look to be backing off any time soon.

According to GameRevolution, Far Cry New Dawn has a little nod towards President Trump's idea of a Space Force. One of the weapons in New Dawn is called the "Space Force" SA-50, which seems like a harmless jab. There will also be a full group of weapons made with the "Space Force theme" in mind.

Creative Director Jean-Sebastien Decant told GameRevolution that it was indeed intended to be taken as a joke, and Ubisoft and New Dawn aren't attempting to take a side politically.

So I think it's not a comment. It's a joke. We really went crazy with the different suits you can gather in the game. So there is the reality of space and the conflict with the twins but in terms of what you can wear in the game, we really went bat**** crazy. So you can disguise yourself as an ape, you can have a robot arm, and you can have Space Force stuff.

Decant went on to say that the sole purpose of all of these wacky additions is to make sure the player has as much customization as possible when playing the upcoming title.

Far Cry New Dawn is scheduled for release on February 15th on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
