The winter update for FIFA 18 is on its way and is expected to be out after the January transfer window ends. While a lot of players hint at upgrades by tagging the official EA Sports accounts on social media, EA upgrades the players after evaluating a plethora of variables. Here are 5 players who are likely to be upgraded to a higher rating in the winter update.
Jesse Lingard (78)
The Manchester United starlet is the only non-rare player on this list. Jesse Lingard has been one of Manchester United's best players this season. Lingard has scored 11 goals and has 5 assists to his name so far.
After a cracking double against Arsenal and a last-gasp equaliser against Burnley, he was named the player of the Month for December. A player of Lingard's quality is rated just 78 on FIFA. The current season has been Lingard's best season for the Red Devils and he is surely due for an upgrade soon.

Leroy Sane (82)
German wonderkind Leroy Sane is the second player on this list who plays for one of the Manchester clubs. Manchester City this season have been in the form of their life under Pep Guardiola. City are still unbeaten in the Premier League with 20 wins and 2 draws.
A major reason why City have managed to do so well this season is the attacking threat of Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling. Sane's performance this season has gone up a notch as compared to last season. He has scored 11 goals and has 4 assists so far. Sane's card, however, is rated a mere 82 on FIFA 18 and he is very likely to be upgraded in the winter update.
Kylian Mbappe (83)
French sensation Kylian Mbappe is the youngest player on this list. The 19-year-old was one of the most talked-about players last season after his exploits with AS Monaco. Mbappe went on loan to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain in the summer transfer window last year.
The loan deal can be followed by a permanent transfer worth 145 million pounds, which might make him the second most expensive player. Mbappe has been tearing it up for PSG this season and forms a deadly trio alongside Neymar and Edinson Cavani.
With 14 goals and 11 assists in only 24 games, Mbappe is justifying why PSG were desperate to have him. His FIFA 18 rating is however on the lower side for a player of his potential. Mbappe is currently rated a measly 83.
Mohamed Salah (83)
Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window last season and undoubtedly has been Liverpool's best player this season. The Egyptian joined Liverpool after spending two seasons with Roma.
Salah's impact in the Premier League was instant and became the second-fastest player to score 20 goals for Liverpool (26 appearances). Salah is currently in second place for Golden Boot contention with 17 goals, only one behind Harry Kane.
The Liverpool man was also voted the CAF African Footballer of the Year and the BBC African Footballer of the Year. Like Mbappe, Salah's rating is just 83 and he is one of the strong candidates who are expected to be upgraded in the winter update.
Harry Kane (86)
The final player on this list has to be none other than Tottenham Hotspur marksman Harry Kane. 2017 was a breakthrough year for Kane, he broke numerous records throughout the year. The 24-year-old surpassed Alan Shearer for the number of Premier League goals scored in a calendar year after netting a hat-trick against Southampton on Boxing Day last year.
Kane's 8th hat-trick of the year also saw him surpass the likes of Messi and Ronaldo to become the highest goalscorer in 2017. Harry Kane's FIFA 18 rating is however fairly low when compared to the players that he surpassed. Compared to Messi (94), Ronaldo (95) and Lewandowski (91), Kane's rating is just 85 and he will most likely get a higher rating in the upcoming update.
