EA Sports rolled out the first batch of FIFA 18 player ratings yesterday and some absolute sick cards were on display. Footballing superstars like Antoine Griezmann and Paulo Dybala, as well as more than 20 other stars from the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A, had their FIFA 18 ratings revealed.
While Bernardo Silva's 84-rated overall card started off proceedings, the likes of Liverpool's Sadio Mane, Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan, Manchester United's Henrikh Mkhitaryan also featured in the top 100 players in FIFA 18 among others.
However, a sore point among FIFA and Liverpool fans was the fact that Mane, who got an 84-rated overall card to become the 98th best player in FIFA 18, got a lower valuation from EA Sports than the likes of Mkhitaryan and Gundogan, both of whom had indifferent campaigns in the 2016-17 season.
Mkhitaryan and Gundogan are ahead of Mane with 85-rated overall cards each, something that is hard to swallow looking at the players' performances over the past year. While Mane has become Liverpool's main man in attack, Mkhitaryan is only now slowly getting into the groove at Manchester United and Gundogan's injury problems continue to plague his career. Taking all of that into account, it is fair that fans are fuming with FIFA 18's ratings.
