Lingard has been in good goalscoring form this season

Jesse Lingard looked to be on his way down the pecking order once the season started. Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Juan Mata were all mentioned before the Englishman when talking about talent.

And yet, midway through the season, Lingard was outscoring them all.

Lingard was brought in by Jose Mourinho when the Portuguese was trying to find the right combination to fit in behind Romelu Lukaku.

While Lingard was definitely less of a glamorous option than Martial and Rashford, he turned to be a clinical one.

Lingard went on a scoring spree that saw some crucial and scintillating goals. He delivered impressive performances against Chelsea and Arsenal, grabbing goals in both the matches. All in all.

Lingard scored 14 goals and delivered five assists while maintaining a passing accuracy of 88 percent.

Lingard was rated 78 in FIFA 18. Martial was rated 82, Mata was 84, and Mkhitaryan was 85, in comparison.

Lingard has been far more important for the Red Devils than the lot of them and that should be enough to get him a better rating. Somewhere around 83-84, perhaps.
