FIFA 19 Winter Upgrades: 5 Premier League players who will move from silver to gold

Premier League players are among the topmost sought-after players in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team and it is not a surprise. The league is the most watched in the world and gamers are more familiar with the players in the English leagues.

However, not all players have gold cards in the league. There are a few players who have done exceedingly well this season but are still on a silver card. EA are set to release the rating refresh in February and here are 5 Premier League players who will move from Silver to Gold cards:

#5 – Matt Doherty

Newcastle United v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Premier League

Wolverhampton have taken the league by storm and are punching way above their weights. The Wolves have been highly consistent at the back & in attack and one of the main reasons for their performances is Matt Doherty.

The right wing-back has shown that he is capable of playing for a big side but given that he is 27, it might be too late for him to make a switch. He is rated at just 74 in FIFA 19 and it would be a huge mistake if he is not given an upgrade to a 76 rated gold card.

#4 – Nampalys Mendy

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leicester City - Premier League

While his namesake, Benjamin Mendy might be the most sought-after Premier League left-back, Nampalys Mendy does not make even a starter's team. The Leicester City midfielder has played really well this season and shown that he deserves a lot more than a 74-rated silver card.

Just like Matt Doherty, Mendy too should be pushed to a 76 rated gold card when the winter rating refresh happens. But then, he might lose his rare card and become a non-rare one when he moves from silver to gold.

#3 – Neil Etheridge

Arsenal FC v Cardiff City - Premier League

Neil Etheridge is not just a pick for moving from silver to gold, but also a part of the 3 Premier League goalkeepers who deserve an upgrade. The Cardiff City man has shown that he is way better than what EA have portrayed him to be in FIFA 19.

Rated at just 72 in the game, Etheridge has been highly consistent and solid at the back, despite getting no support from his defenders. With the rating refresh, EA should push him from 72 to 77.

#2 – Joselu

Newcastle United v Cardiff City - Premier League

Just like Etheridge at Cardiff, Joselu has been trying hard to pull his team out of the danger zone. The Spaniard has only scored twice this season but it is his impact when on the pitch that has impressed everyone.

He was pushed from gold in FIFA 18 to silver in FIFA 19 and is now in contention to head back into the gold category. While it won't be a huge push, it is expected to be a boost of +1 – moving from 74 to 75.

#1 – Mattéo Guendouzi

Arsenal FC v Cardiff City - Premier League 2018/19 season

What a signing Mattéo Guendouzi has been for Arsenal. The teenager is full of energy and is showing the Arsenal faithful exactly what they were missing so far.

The Frenchman signed from Ligue 2 side, Lorient and is playing his first season in the top flight but has shown the maturity of someone who has been playing for 3-4 years. EA have shown that they are aware of his talents and have given him a part of the Future Stars squad with a rating of 87.

Rated at just 67 in FIFA 19, EA should ideally get him up to 75, for now. The boost of +8 is very much deserved and it won't be anything more than what he should be rated it.
