FIFAe World Cup is set to return this year, albeit as a Rocket League tournament. Following the split between EA and FIFA in 2023, the future of the FIFAe World Cup was looking dim. However, on June 23, FIFA joined hands with Psyonix to revitalize their esports event. The 2023 FIFAe World Cup was the last event held on the EA title FIFA 23, and the 2024 FIFAe World Cup will be a Rocket League tournament.

This article will cover everything you need to know about the upcoming tournament.

Rocket League is the official game for the 2024 FIFAe World Cup

The announcement of the FIFAe World Cup was made during the Championship Sunday of RLCS London Major. While this is not the first time a country-based Rocket League tournament is being announced, the affiliation of FIFA makes it a big deal.

In the past, Intel World Open (IWO) tried a similar concept with Psyonix's title in 2019. The event pitted multiple countries against one another, with the finale planned in a LAN event at the 2020 Summer Olympic venue in Tokyo. However, the event did not materialize in its intended format due to the pandemic in 2020.

Now FIFA has the chance to carry forward what IWO could not. FIFAe World Cup was traditionally held with EA titles, but with FIFA's own football game under wraps right now, they have decided to feature Psyonix's title in this year's event.

Format of 2024 FIFAe World Cup and how to participate

The 2024 FIFAe World Cup will host a total of sixteen nations competing for the trophy. Each nation has to bring three players and one substitute. The criteria for selecting these nations is the number of players from each country that participated in previous RLCS Majors.

In case of a large number of players competing from a country, they can host a qualification tournament of their own to find the three best players to represent the country. Interested players can go to FIFA.gg and register.

The dates and schedule of the 2024 FIFAe World Cup are not out yet, but we will be covering any new developments.
