'Flappy Bird' Creator to take down game

‘Flappy Bird’ is available for Android and iOS.

Creator of the insanely famous ‘Flappy Bird’ game Dong Nguyen has revealed via Twitter that he will be taking down the game by Sunday.

The Vietnamese developer said: “I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.”

When asked whether if there were any legal reasons behind his decision since the chances of Nintendo suing him for using their art from the classic Mario game were high, Nguyen made it clear that it was his own decision to shut down the game which became the number one free app on the iOS App Store as well as Android’s Play Store.

“It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore.”

“I also don’t sell ‘Flappy Bird’, please don’t ask,” he added. “And I still make games.”

The game has been making $50,000 a day from ad-revenue according to Forbes.
