The 2017 survival horror game Friday the 13th: The Game will be releasing sometime between April to June for the Nintendo Switch. Friday the 13th: The Game will include all previously released DLCs including the Jason Kill Pack, Counselor Clothing Packs, and the Emote Party Pack. The game was originally released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in May 2017.

Based on the critically acclaimed film franchise, Friday the 13th: The Game is an online multiplayer game where you can play as 8 different characters called counsellors and the 9th person will play the film's/game's primary antagonist, Jason Voorhees. The counsellors need to run away and subdue the player playing Jason in order to survive and win the game.

Although the game was initially only going to be multiplayer, a single player mode was announced later. The player takes control of Jason Voorhees while fighting against counsellors who are bots. Many of the scenarios in the single-player mode are adapted from the film but with a few original cutscenes.

The funding for this game came through Kickstarter. Gun Media, the creators, was not funded by anyone else and had to depend on crowdsourcing for the game to happen. There were some initial lawsuits from the filmmakers of the series but the game was eventually greenlit and released.

The announcement for the Switch coincided with the announcement of the 2019 online survival horror Dead by Daylight. In Dead by Daylight, you can control many characters from horror series such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Friday the 13th: The Game had an average reception on release but saw significant improvements since its release. Thanks to the social aspect of the Switch, Gun Media is hoping they can tweak the game for the Nintendo Switch and put it to good use.
