Outposts that require a trail will be highlighted next to it. Trails cost Heatstamps and Prefabs, so make sure you have enough in stock before you begin building one.

Trails are essentially conduits that connect these remote Outposts to central hubs and act as a gateway of transport for resources and such. You can build a trail and connect the Outpost to central nodes or established Colonies like New London or another existing trail that is already connected to a Colony.

Your map will display endpoints that need to be connected for the trail to be completed. Once you reach a Colony or endpoint, hit the check mark and confirm it to dispatch your Frostland Teams to build it. Additionally, you will see areas with a black dot representing how far the section of the trail can be continued.

Remember that building trails over rough terrain will cost you more. You need to be strategic in placing your trails so future Outposts and Settlements can be connected to them instead of you having to build new networks during your Frostpunk 2 Frostland Explorations.
