Fugue is an upcoming 5-star unit in Honkai Star Rail and is slated to be released in version 2.7. For those unfamiliar with her lore, Fugue is a brand new, revamped form of the 4-star character Tingyun, who met her end sometime back during the Xianzhou Luofu main story arc. She will be returning as a completely new character in Honkai Star Rail version 2.7.
Fugue's kit leaks have disclosed that she will be a Break support, which already means she will make a place for herself in the meta. Currently, Break teams are one of the best meta teams, and Fugue's addition to them as a Break support character means that she will function as a very powerful unit.
This article discusses Fugue's place in the current meta of HSR, including her strengths as a Break support who might take the current Break meta to the next level.

Fugue might be a very powerful addition to the Break meta in Honkai Star Rail
Fugue is a 5-star Fire Nihility unit, as has been officially revealed via her drip marketing. Before discussing her potential as a powerful addition to the Break meta, it is necessary to look at her kit first. Do keep in mind that her kit has not been officially revealed yet, and has been sourced from leaks, which makes it subject to change before her final release.
Fugue's Skill selects a target ally and increases their Break Effect for three turns. Whenever this selected ally attacks enemies, Fugue further reduces the enemies' DEF by a certain amount. This makes her Skill a very powerful mechanic that not only increases a teammate's Break Effect but also reduces the enemies' DEF for greater overall damage.
Fugue's Ultimate deals Fire DMG to enemies which ignores their Weakness Type and also reduces their Toughness. Additionally, Fugue's Talent inflicts enemies with Exo-Toughness (which is a Toughness Bar that is susceptible to all types of attacks). This helps her allies deal greater damage in order to break enemies' Weaknesses faster. Furthermore, with Fugue in the team, whenever allies attack enemies that have already had their Weaknesses broken, extra Super Break DMG is dealt.
As such, judging by her rumored kit, Fugue will soon become one of the best Break supports in Honkai Star Rail, capable of replacing Harmony Trailblazer in Break teams.
How strong is Fugue?
The current Break meta team consists of Firefly, Harmony Trailblazer, Ruan Mei, and Lingsha (who has recently replaced Gallagher as the sustain/healer on this team). If the leaks regarding Fugue's kit and mechanics turn out to be true, then the next character to be replaced in this team will be Harmony Trailblazer.
Fugue will be a direct upgrade over Harmony Trailblazer, not just because of her Super Break damage, but also (and more importantly) because of her ability to inflict Exo-Toughness on enemies. This is actually a welcome change, considering the Trailblazer might have to play different roles later on as the story progresses and they get a new Path.
As it stands right now, Fugue will be an excellent addition to the Break meta, and her Exo-Toughness-inflicting mechanism will definitely take the current Break meta to the next level.
