Future PS4 update may bring in uncompressed screenshot sharing

PS4

A possible PS4 update may introduce uncompressed screenshot sharing.

At the beginning of the year, Microsoft allowed Xbox One owners to share screenshots. The cool thing about this feature is that Xbox One owners can share full 1080p images online using the PNG format. PS4 owners can share screenshots too but the quality is very low due to image compression.

It looks like Sony may allow PS4 owners to share screenshots in the near future. We might see this feature in an upcoming PS4 update.

Toshimasa Aoki who is a PlayStation employee tweeted: “Thanks for the feedback! Will look into this!

Nobody knows about the release date of the next PS4 update but uncompressed screenshot sharing would be a nice change. Hopefully Sony truly is listening to all the feedback as fans would really like to share their screenshots online without reducing the quality.

Industry insider “Tidux” tweeted out a new update is coming to fix some problems with the 2.50 firmware. It is likely that a minor update will be released for the PS4 soon however, major updates take a while to reach the users.
