Two years ago, we saw the revamp of PS Plus as Sony decided to split the subscription into three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Each tier gave the subscribers different benefits with the common one being access to online gaming and cloud save across all tires. The Essential tier gives two to three new games that the players can keep as long as they have the subscription.
The Extra tier gives fans access to a catalog of games with new additions every month. Some games stay for long periods while others leave after a while. The Premium tier allows players to access retro games from the PS1, PS2, and PS3 eras. Each tier is further divided into ownership time frames, with 1-month, 3-month, and 1-year durations giving every consumer a variety of options.
Fans have shared mixed reactions to these tiers as many believe that the quality of games in each tier has declined after the price hike. Comparisons have been made to GamePass stating that it is a better deal. While some see PS Plus as a disappointment in recent times, others view it as value for money. Here are some games that should be added to each tier of PS Plus to make it worth everyone's time.

New games for the PS Plus Essential tier
1) Mafia 3
We have seen the first two Mafia games being part of the Essential tier. While the initial release of Mafia 3 was buggy, it has been fixed over the years to represent a good third-person shooter experience. This means players will finally be able to own all three Mafia games through the Essential tier if PlayStation adds the game to the base catalog.
2) Hitman World of Assassination
The Hitman World of Assassination Trilogy has been out for quite some time and is adored for its consistency and stealth gameplay. All three games have provided fans with a great narrative as they step into the shoes of Agent 47. Owning the WOA trilogy will also let them play the popular freelancer mode.
3) Hi-Fi Rush
Hi-Fi Rush was the breakout hit of 2023 and it recently got ported to PlayStation 5. The game was praised for its unique art style featuring comic visuals and fun gameplay which required you to sync attacks with the background music. Given how popular this game was and the closing of Tango Gameworks, it will be the perfect addition to the Essential tier.
New games for the PS Plus Extra tier
1) GTA III Definitive Edition
A long time ago, we saw the addition of GTA Vice City to the Extra tier. However, it was later removed. Recently GTA San Andreas was added to the subscription service which means GTA III should be next in line. The game was a masterpiece for its time and set the standard for open-world entries we see today. Adding it to the Extra Tier will complete the trilogy.
2) Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil 7 was part of the Extra tier a while ago and it would be perfect to reintegrate this three-year-old game. Village picks up from its predecessor as you continue to play Ethan but this time, the threat is bigger. You face Mother Miranda to save your daughter from being sacrificed for a cult. This third-person shooter will be a great horror addition to the Extra tier.
3) Spider-Man Remastered
Spider-Man was one of the best games in 2018 and received praise for its realistic visuals and fluid gameplay. The Extra tier featured its Game of the Year edition which came with three DLCs. However, it was later removed and we think it's time for this remaster to return to the PS Plus Extra tier. The game would arrive with 60FPS and adaptive triggers for the PS5.
New games for the PS Plus Premium tier
1) God of War
The first ever God of War is only available for streaming which is not the best way to play the game since you will experience latency issues during your gameplay if you have Wifi issues. The game was a massive success during its time as Kratos was the biggest hack-and-slash hero at that time. Adding this game to the PS Plus premium will help more people be aware of Kratos's Greek roots.
2) Ben 10: Protector of Earth
Since PlayStation has developed a significantly better emulator for the PS2, it might be time to bring Ben 10 back with Protector of Earth. Many consider this the best out of all the Ben 10 games. This action-adventure also has a co-op multiplayer, meaning you can enjoy it with your friends. The game will evoke a bit of nostalgia and fit right into the Classic catalog.
3) Assassin's Creed
The first Assassin's Creed was revolutionary, as it kickstarted a long-running franchise. Although its gameplay was widely deemed repetitive, this game served as the blueprint for multiple future entries. This is also the only entry in the franchise that is inaccessible on today's hardware. Adding it to the PS Plus Classic catalog would be the right move.
