Players could see these ten games at the PlayStation Showcase for May 2023

1) Marvel's Wolverine

First announced at the PlayStation Showcase 2021, Marvel's Wolverine is a brand new upcoming project from Insomniac Games. So far, we have few details besides a trailer shown back then. With the studio's expertise in superhero games, like Marvel's Spiderman, the Miles Morales standalone entry, and the upcoming successor, this game is in good hands.

The only question is if the publisher will unveil more details at the upcoming livestream.

2) New AAA horror game from Firesprite Studios

Firesprite is one of Sony's handfuls of newly acquired studios in recent memory. Last year, a job listing from the studio was spotted, highlighting a brand-new project in development. It is seemingly a AAA horror game for the PlayStation 5 and is built on Unreal Engine 5. Save for titles like 2008's Siren: Blood Curse and 2015's Until Dawn. There are few first-party horror games under the PlayStation brand.

Hopefully, this is something new that pushes the boundaries of the genre.

3) New 3D action game from Team Asobi

Team Asobi's only game on the PlayStation 5 thus far has been Astro's Playroom, a 3D platformer that comes pre-installed on all consoles. As such, fans have been wondering what they have been up to since then. That is until last year when a job listing hinted at their next project being a 3D action title.

Knowing the studios' track record, it could be an action-platformer, not unlike the Ratchet & Clank series. Whether it is or isn't, it remains to be seen.

4) The Last of Us multiplayer spin-off

After the success of The Last of Us Part 2, it is clear that this survival action-adventure IP is far from done. This was confirmed with developer Naughty Dog posting promotional artwork for a multiplayer project. So far, no details have been shared, but that will likely change with the new showcase. The series has previously included multiplayer as the Factions mode for 2013 original.

As such, many fans are hoping for a return to form with this new spin-off.

5) Horizon multiplayer spin-off

With the recent launch of the Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC, Guerilla's sci-fi sandbox series continues to gain popularity. The developer has confirmed that a brand-new installment is currently in the works. Furthermore, the ending for the DLC also hints at a continuation of protagonist Aloy's adventure. However, it will likely be a while before we see anything conclusive.

Until then, the studio will likely shed light on a multiplayer entry, which is also officially confirmed to be a thing, hopefully debuting at the showcase.

6) Pragmata

Another title announced two years ago for the PlayStation 5, Pragmata, is an upcoming action-adventure game from Capcom. It is one of many new IPs from the third-party studio and will use the current-gen platform's powerful tech. The project debuted with a bizarre and somewhat cryptic trailer, and no information about the gameplay was divulged, even until its subsequent delay.

Pragmata is now scheduled for 2023, so there is a high possibility it will be featured at the showcase.

7) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake

One of the most exciting games on this list is a remake of the beloved 2003 RPG from developer BioWare. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was also announced at the PlayStation Showcase 2021. However, there has been radio silence on that front since then. According to rumors, the game reportedly suffered from development issues last year and was seemingly moved to another studio - from Aspyr to Saber Interactive.

If anything, this means it is not canceled, so this upcoming livestream is an excellent opportunity to deliver an update for concerned fans.

8) Like A Dragon 8

The latest entry in the Like A Dragon series (formerly known as "Yakuza") aims to be the biggest in its franchise yet. Publisher SEGA revealed a trailer for the upcoming turn-based JRPG last year, showcasing beloved protagonist Kiryu teaming up with Ichiban, the previous game's hero.

The game is set to arrive in 2024 on PlayStation 5, making this showcase ripe for a new gameplay demonstration.

9) Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes

The Max Payne series has been dormant since Rockstar Games' Max Payne 3 in 2012. However, fans rejoiced last year when Remedy Entertainment announced that the remakes of the first two entries in the iconic third-person shooter series are in development.

The projects are in collaboration with Rockstar and are bound to be a nostalgic trip for gamers. With that said, fans are due for new gameplay at this point.

10) Silent Hill F

The iconic psychological horror franchise from Konami is back. Several months ago, the Silent Hill Transmission livestream highlighted many new games in development. While the most anticipated one is the Silent Hill 2 remake by Polish studio Bloober Team, the latest mainline entry is the most curious.

Called Silent Hill F, this brand new installment from NetBards Entertainment takes players to rural 1960s Japan. What new horrors await players?

Hopefully, we will find out soon.
