There was nothing wrong with Burnout 2: Point of Impact, but Burnout 3: Takedown took the gaming experience to a new dimension. This game introduced a powerful new aggressive ingredient to the series.

Players were encouraged to ram opponents off the road in order to gain a turbo boost! Coming to the unlockables, players could unlock cars ranging from sleek sports models to bigger offerings, such as the fire truck. Apart from that one could never get bored of the Crash mode in this game.

#9 Max Payne 2

Max Payne, the third-person shooter developed by Remedy Entertainment has fans all over the globe. The original Max Payne had come out in December 2001 and was an instant hit. However, fans were eager to see how the story of Max Payne proceeded and voila we had Max Payne 2.

Max Payne 2 though many of you will not agree was a better game than Max Payne. It had a stronger storyline that allowed us to get deeper into the story of Max Payne. The graphics were almost the same though MP2 had finer textures in game.

The biggest improvement in the game would be the ‘bullet time’ that allowed the user to slow time when they fired bullets. Also, MP2 allowed you to play as both Max Payne and Max Sona. So, I would say MP2 deserves a spot in this list.

#8 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Ah, Call of Duty, every FPS gamer’s dream game. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brought in the most of the concepts that were incorporated in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This sequel had an excellent story line, stronger weapons and the multiplayer mode boasted a horde of new ways to kill opponents.

The story had a large number of twists and turns that kept gamers glued to their PC screens. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 set the standards for all FPS games and Activision has been working hard to live up to those standards. As of now they have been doing a good job with their latest venture, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

#7 Halo 2

Halo: Combat Evolved was a game that was once a fan favourite. Even now, there are many who continue to play Halo: Combat Evolved. Seeing the initial success of Halo, Microsoft decided to make Halo 2. It went on to become one of the best games ever made for Xbox.

It boasted an excellent story, fine graphics and a strong multiplayer mode. What else would a FPS gamer want? Hopefully, Halo 5 that is to be released this year will also bring us something that we can talk about!

#6 Super Mario Bros.

Yes, Super Mario Bros. was a sequel to the original Mario Bros. game. The original Mario Bros. game was not all that fun as it was a same-screen action. Super Mario Bros. changed all that as it had a side-scrolling screen with many features like the mushroom that helped players grow big and the flower hat gave firepower.

Unlike its predecessor, Super Mario Bros. had different worlds in different levels and in each level players had to face a new set of challenges. After Super Mario Bros. Nintendo continued to work hard and they came out with the amazing Super Mario Bros. 3.

#5 Assassin\'s Creed 2

You have to admit it, Assassin’s Creed was a big letdown for the fans. It was fun to play at the start but the game got boring as all you had to do was simply go and assassinate people.

Assassin’s Creed 2 helped the series grow as the developers brought in a brilliant story along with a variety of other elements that made for an exhilarating gaming experience. No more repetitive gameplay, false promises of freedom and unsatisfying story elements. This sequel changed all of that!

#4 GTA San Andreas

Welcome back Grand Theft Auto! No matter which list you talk about, Rockstar always manages to find its way in that list! GTA San Andreas is one of the best GTA games ever made. The 3D world was huge and free to explore.

It had everything, starting from drainages to mountains. You could fly an aircraft or you could pay money for a flight ticket. The best part about the game was that it had a mission where you had to go back to Liberty City. Talk about bringing in the feeling of nostalgia.

Another big improvement in the game would be the part where Carl Johnson (CJ) was capable of swimming. Unlike the older GTA games where the players were capable of blowing up buildings but the player died the minute he went into water.

#3 Hitman Contracts

The Hitman game series developed by the Danish company IO Interactive is one of the best series ever made. The game is a stealth game and let me assure you, it is not child’s play. Stealth is a thing that is underestimated by many in this era of modern gaming.

Gamers prefer the Rambo style rather than staying silent and taking out opponents one by one. Hitman Contracts was one such game. It was better than its predecessor, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin as Contracts was a much easier game. You have to admit nobody enjoys playing a game that they cannot beat. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin was one of those games that were almost impossible to complete.

Hitman Contracts boasted a a better storyline with enhanced graphics. HD versions were made for the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Along with that, it was a lot easier to unlock all the weapons and therby we can safely say that it was a game that out did its prequel.

#2 Batman Arkham City

Batman Arkham Asylum did its job by bringing Batman back to the gaming world. The game was a masterpiece with excellent graphics, an intriguing storyline and lot of action. However, the biggest drawback in this game would be the small map. Players found it hard to find areas that they could explore. In came Batman Arkham City. It had all the features of Arkham Asylum and this time Batman had a few more gadgets and a huge world that he was free to explore.

Coming to the story, it was something that was possible. This time Batman’s arch rival, ‘The Joker’ decides to inject Batman with the same disease that had infected him. You have to give credit to the Joker. He knows that Batman will come up with a cure to the disease. The story is a marvelous one and it is bound to keep the gamers glued to the screen unlike Batman Arkham Asylum which did not boast a story as strong as this one.

#1 Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver

There is no doubt about this! Pokemon always finds its own way into most lists! Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver were not exactly sequels, but they are the successors of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver.

In the new games, players were presented with an opportunity to explore the Jhoto and Kanto region while being able to catch new Pokemon. The enhanced graphics on the Nintendo DS were far better than that of the Gameboy Color. Players were able to choose from a variety of new Pokemon as Pokemon from the new regions had also been incorporated in these games. Hence, let us all congratulate Pokemon on winning the number one spot again.
